Hello Sadhakas!
This week we start a new pose wooohoooo! This month we move into Summer and we move into Prasarita Padottanasana. It’s a fun pose for many reasons. Specifically, for us for this month I love it because it takes us out of our comfort zones in terms of planes of movement which is perfect as we move out into warmer weather and back into our communities in ways we haven’t been able to for soooo long.

This first week we are looking ON THE MAT at “staying stacked”. For many of us, as we fold forward, we unconsciously shift our hips back past the center line of our ankles. This might make it easier for us to balance but may cause us to bypass the experience of lengthening in the pose by a locking out of the knees. This week we will tune in to all of that and we start the process of re-patterning it. In this pose (and in basically all poses) we want to be able to find a line of gravity for the bones by correctly stacking the joints. This stacking allows the bones to do their job of transferring gravity and leaves our muscles free to do their job which is moving the bones. In short, we need to get ourselves to stop skirting around a thing and drop right into the power in the center of it.

OFF THE MAT, the above quote from A Course in Miracles, resonated with me. So often people will say to me “How do I know?” “How do I know it’s my Inner Teacher speaking to me in my heart?”. And this is always my response; The truth of who we are is peaceful, loving and all-knowing/creating/powerful aka abundant. When that spark speaks to you it feels like itself: peaceful, loving and abundant. So, the heart of it, the dead center power spot is this. If the whispers you are hearing are of abundance and hope filled, not always an easy thought, (those things are not the same) it’s real. If what you are hearing is fearful, or lack based, it is not who you really are but the ego doing its job of keeping you unhappy and stuck. This week I challenge you to listen to the abundance based center, and move away from the fear based exterior, and see just how powerful you can feel- both ON AND OFF THE MAT.

With Great Respect and Love,

Nicole
