How Do We Do This?
Dearest Yogi,
Ok, if you have read the previous 3 articles in this series you’ve had a chance to reflect on your own food history and begin rethinking your role at mealtimes. We know that taking these steps is not always easy, but it’s an important part of fostering a healthier relationship with food for your family.
But now, we need to talk about how you can actually start making these changes. How do you go from feeling overwhelmed at every meal to feeling confident and in control? It’s one thing to understand the concepts, but it’s another to bring them into your everyday routine. That’s why we’re excited to share some practical tips on how to implement these ideas. Read on below and remember the full course is here whenever you are ready!
Warmly,

The How
Changing the way we approach feeding our children doesn't happen overnight. It's completely normal to feel overwhelmed at first, but the key to success is starting small with manageable steps that will build up to big changes over time.
Here are three ways to start implementing these new mealtime habits:
Choose one meal to focus on: You don't have to overhaul your entire day at once. Maybe breakfast feels more manageable than dinner, or perhaps lunch is a less stressful time for your family. Start with just one meal where you can begin to apply these principles, and build from there.
Serve a variety of foods: Use our “Love it, Like it, Learning it” method to offer a mix of foods your child is familiar with and new foods you'd like them to try. This approach makes mealtimes feel safe and encouraging, helping your child feel less anxious about trying something new.
Stay consistent: Once you've decided on your role as the feeder and your child's role as the eater, stick to it. Consistency is key to success. It might feel difficult at first—especially if your child resists—but with time and practice, the stress of mealtime will fade, and both you and your child will feel more confident.
